A L’Envers

This year the annual Christmas tree at Galeries Lafayette, one of the major department stores in Paris, was upside down. Under the magnificent stained glass dome, it changed colors.

One weekday evening, I weaved through the crowds on the sidewalks that were wide but seemed narrow, past the musical windows of suspended marionettes dancing above expensive shoes riding model trains, and between the shoppers in the jewelry aisles to stand in front a perfume counter and watch the tree lights blink.

Sometimes the world feels topsy turvy. Occasionally that can be a good thing.100_7365 100_7366I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday.
